Not really. He was one of those logia users that never got hurt much until the New World, but there are a lot of ways around devil fruits. Not just ocean.

[Huff! Miyabi readies her brush the moment Marco holds out the tip of it toward the kappa - who is leering at the two of them suspiciously, and only inched forward maybe a half foot or so to inspect just what they're doing. From the brush tip of Miyabi's sword, ink flows, starting from the tip of the makeshift rod and right over to the kappa's duck-like beak.]

Get ready to fight, Mister Marco! Pull hard...now! [And like that, the ink transforms into a baited line, strong and thick, and hoks the little water monster right from the get-go. Startled, the creature begins to thrash and struggle, swerving left and right and diving under the water.] Don't let it pull you in! Reel it in close, or make it jump from the water, and I can get it after that.

[ALL THE EXCITEMENT! Miyabi's not done this in what feels like ages. It's like a huge, fun, super exciting game, fishing.]

[Of course Marco pulls and grabs with his phoenix claws, his legs are ridiculously strong anyway, and with that he switches into phoenix mode to really pull the kappa out of the water.]

You ready?

Yes, I'm ready!

[As ready as she always is when helping with fishing. This is a battle, a game of skill and of precision! It's also helping her train her brush skills, too, so that's a big plus. With Marco's insane strength, it doesn't take much to get the kappa out of the water, even with its wild struggling and floundering below the water's surface. He's just too strong for the little water demon to evade by itself. So, with a horrific and enraged screech, the kappa flails its arms and legs wildly as it soars through the air on the line.

And that's when Miyabi strikes. A quick swish of her brush, a single, horizonal line of black ink, and the kappa's stuck down once the ink hardens like steel and strikes it dead-on on its exposed belly. Falling like a stone, it splashes into the water, gurgling in shock. It's not dead, just stunned.]

Reel it in, reel it in, reel it in! [She's like a little kid, seriously, waving her arms and hopping up and down. She hasn't played fishing in so, so long, aaah, it's just like being home in Kamui again!]

I'm reeling, I'm reeling.

[Marco laughs and does his best to pull the kappa in more, it's almost like seaking fishing really, but it is fun, and he drags the frog-turtle creature closer and closer.]
