Not really. He was one of those logia users that never got hurt much until the New World, but there are a lot of ways around devil fruits. Not just ocean.

There's no such thing as the "ultimate" devil fruit, eh. Teach is a freaking idiot. Pops wasn't the world's strongest because of his devil fruit.

Heh, where I'm from it'd be me settling down and raising a family right about now. Or becoming some high powered business woman or a school teacher.

Hong Kong's different than most of China, but it's still similar enough. And maybe I'd have liked that. Who knows?

Nothing, it's what I've been doing.

Dunno though, I guess maybe it'd be nicer if it was more permanent? Or if I'd started when I was a kid.

[Grins a little.] There's nothing wrong with doing things in the interim of chasing your dreams, eh? Pops was a pirate long before he found me and started his family, but it all worked out all right.

As for permanency... [A slightly bigger grin.] If I could give you that, believe me, I would. The best I can tell you is to take it one day at a time. Do everything you wouldn't want to leave unfinished, but live to the most. Sometimes there's almost something liberating in knowing you've got to make every day count as much as you can.
