Yo. I'm back. Longest month of my life, including that time I dyed my hair black.

Did anyone remember to water and feed Ace while I was gone? Take him for walks and make sure he got sun and all that?

[There's a pause and the fluttering of wings along with a mutter.] Damn this new book system is strange... [But he speaks back up again trying to sound more chipper.]

So what did I miss? Did the entire landscape change? Any new books about pirates at the library, eh?

[For those who know him well, Marco actually sounds pretty exhausted for a change, and lacking some of his usual ridiculousness.]

Ace [Did he mean that Ace?]

He's been fed, walked, and watered...but he's a little funny looking for a pet or a plant.

[LAUGHS. He hadn't actually expected anyone to go along with his joke.]

That's because he's both.

[How like Ace to totally ignore the important stuff like "oh shit, where the fuck is he", and instead run out of the house without his journal. He realized that mistake about two minutes after leaving. He was going to turn around, go back, yell at him to say where he was, and then punch him. Buuuuuut then something better happened. He saw Marco walking home with groceries. Now Ace, being the wonderful mature adult he is, did the only thing someone could do at a moment like that. He scooped up some snow, packed it into a tight ball, and threw it at Marco's lovely pineapple head.]

Oi. [Yes, that is all you get.]

[Don't mind the kid--he finds this hilarious.]

[Blue flames all over in an instant as Marco overreacts.] OI YOURSELF! [Hybrid form with a leg ready to-- Oh it's Ace.]

You're in a good mood. [Sets down the groceries and HUGS him.] Sorry. I'm still here, eh? Just... [Tips Ace's hat over his eyes so he can't see Marco's frown.] Delayed. But I'm serious, you're not getting rid of me that easily.

You okay?

[Grins. Someone with a sense of humor~ Yay!]

So you know my freckled pet-plant?

I know Ace a little--I'm new around here, and Sanji has been letting me stay with him and his friends until I find a different place. I've seen him a few times.

I'm Yugo, by the way. It's nice meeting you.

[Ace? That's a very familiar name, oh yes. Must be one of Hothead's friends...and a fun one to boot. Norma snickers quietly into her journal, debating on how to properly answer this. She's been, uh...kind of hiding in her bed all day after that lovelove curse thing wore off. Yeah, from now on, she's going to listen to all the warnings and crap about this experiment.

BUT AVOIDANCE AND DISTRACTION IS THE BEST REMEDY. That, and picking on her pirate buddy; yoho and all that junk.]

Oh, you mean Hothead? Well, I watered him... [By taking him out to the ocean and hitting him with beach balls and the like. She is a great friend.] And I guess I fed him...

[Those funny fruits...]

[He's about to flip him off for almost picking a fight, but then he was hugged. Oh. Okay, yeah, that's a lot better. He'll just hug back very, very tightly.] I've got a reason to be in one. And hell, who said I wanted you gone...

[And how about we ignore the question of how he's been, mhm, yes.]

Good. I was hoping he'd check in on his brother's crew.

Marco, nice to meet you too Yugo!

[Hugs tight.]

Did you go see your brother? How have you been eating? Getting out enough? [Mother hen mode get!]

Now you've got me a little worried, eh. [Casual, but hello, extremely overprotective brother trying to figure out why the evasiveness of all that.]

[He smiles a little into Marco, relieved to hear his usual barrage of concerning questions.]

O-oi, slow down. Yeah, I visited them a few times. And I got out plenty. [Eating, well... topic change! He looks up at him, clearly worried.]

How about you? You didn't sound that great earlier.

They're all Pirates. Luffy, Sanji, Ace...does that mean you're one too?

[He's genuinely curious here--so many pirates! So many people with cool powers!

[Tugs that hat down again and glances away, going back to his grocery bags.]

I'm fine, eh?

Aye. Whitebeard crew. First division commander, and acting captain temporarily.

If you see anyone with this tattoo, you can know they're my family; nakama. [Gestures to the blue cross and crescent moon as his chest.]

Ace is 2nd division commander, and Luffy's his little brother, captain of the Straw Hat crew. Nami, Sanji, Robin and the others are part of that crew. Have you met Doctor Law?

[He pushes his hat back up, and gives him a disbelieving look.]

Uh-huh, sure. You don't really think I'll believe that, do you?

[He's a little testier than usual.]

Eh? No idea what you mean. How's your sleep been? [Deadpan.]

[He doesn't know this term, 'nakama', but has heard it bandied around plenty of times since his arrival in late January. In context, he can only assume that it's meaning is similar to his travelling companions back home--they formed a Brotherhood, as travelling parties are wont to do after adventuring together.

He does understand a little bit about commanders and captains, though not over a sea. A land army was better context for him, though they fought under a prince and a king...

A thoughtful frown plays on his face as he considers this, studying the tattoo that Marco mentioned.]

You two sound very important then. Very different from the pirates I've met at home. They were a bunch of scoundrels, stole our money that we were using to pay for a small ship and crew. [quick smile.] But that's over.

No, I haven't met Doctor Law, why?

[...he's very tempted to punch you and call you out on your bullshit.]

If I tell you, will you talk?

Plenty of pirates are like that, but they're usually the small name sort.

Doctor Law's another pirate captain here. Good guy, he'd probably like you.

[Eyes flare blue, a little annoyed, half-tempted to tell Ace off, but nakama... he can do better than this.]

Sorry. Been a rough month for us both, eh? I'll talk over dinner. For now, I'll listen, all right?

I'll need to remember that, thank you.

[Then, he asks in a polite, but concerned tone:] Are you okay? It sounded like you've been missing for a while, from the way people have talked.

They noticed, huh? Anyone besides Ace?

I guess I better check in on Ginia and the bar too.

I got kidnapped by the Malnosso for a bit... wasn't expecting that, but I suppose it's about time they tried to get back at me.
