Okay sometimes he sneaks out of their place to see Robin, but that was mostly when he was a chibi, so... not that kind of reasons gosh.] No no, I'm kind of glad you told? It's not like we're trying to keep it secret, we just haven't told a lot of people I think. [Marco himself has told Ace, Sabo, Luce, and Rin. That's probably about it. And Law. Law knows.]

Ahh... yeah... I didn't want to do it with her gone though. And I'm not sure if she should be with me when I do. Or if I should like... ask his permission...? No, that's definitely weird. [Rubs his chin.]

... Marco, it's Luffy. You don't need permission, just ask if you can talk to him for a bit to tell him. [It's not like he'll kill him.]

I only met him in passing, and knew of him through you. Now part of me knows him through Robin, part of me through Sabo, Pops saw a lot in him, but all those things...

I might know him, but he doesn't know me. I don't want that to be extra awkward on him. [Holds up a hand.] I know he's not that kind of guy, but I am a little, okay? [Like Law, Law only knew Marco by reputation, but was willing to bank on that and trust it for the time being. Luffy wasn't the type of guy to care about reputations one way or another, which made it stranger.] He's not my little brother so I can't just treat him like I do with you or Sabo yet. [Though, really, to a really large extent Marco does anyway because that's who Marco is.] And because he's Robin's captain, that's a point of respect. I want to do it right. [But he doesn't know what the right way is, because well, he's not completely sure of Luffy yet or how to handle him.]

--did you just say Luffy would be awkward? [HE DOESN'T KNOW THE DEFINITION OF AWKWARD.] I'm not saying you have to treat him like a little brother. When Robin comes back, all you have to do is tell Robin you want to tell him, and ask Luffy if you can talk to him.

[For a long moment, the blue flames in Marco's hands had him transfixed; but he catches himself and looks away, lips pressed tightly together. Now isn't the time remembering a different fire, though Marco's analogy isn't really helping, even if Sabo agrees with it.]

...He's always been like that, even before he became a fire human. More on the explode-y side and I think... maybe it worked for him? He'd lash out whenever he's angry and sometimes it'd take days, weeks before his mood changes, but... the time between 'em gets longer every time, and he'd mellowed out a lot by the time Luffy came along. Maybe he hasn't got the chance to be as angry as he wants here as much? Like, maybe he didn't want to worry you or Luffy? I--I don't know... [Rubs his eyes tiredly.] Sorry, Marco. Everything I know's a bit outdated.

[Sighs and looks at Marco.] ...'Sides, aren't you fire too? [He noticed all those deep breaths, bro. Sabo doesn't think Marco's the exploding type, but facing all this in one day isn't good.] ...We don't have to talk about this now, y'know.

It's okay.

[Reaches out a gentle hand and ruffles Sabo's hair, knocking the hat off a little.] I am fire too, but I'm more bird than him. [Aka: airy.] I've had a lot more years to get a hold of myself. [Which made losing his temper like this just that much more embarrassing.] Ace is trying to work through a lot of things, but there's no one set way to do it, eh? There's no right way or wrong way, just ways that work, and everything else is a mine field until it does.

I don't know how to help him through it. I want to just carry him over it, but it doesn't work that way. So the best we can do is put up with a few explosions as they happen. At least we'll learn to try a different route.

Because it's weird for a party not involved to be telling them this! You have to tell him, at least. I told Sanji. That's the hard part.

When she gets back, tell him.

How is that hard? Sanji's fine. And I don't want you to tell Luffy, I I will do it. When she gets back, aye.
