[Hark! It's the roar of an angry phoenix in pirate form.]

MY SHAMPOO?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Oh god it's even in my feathers! MY FEATHERS ACE!!! AHHH WHY'D YOU HAVE TO PICK RED?! Even raven black would have been better! I look like I hero-worship Shanks now! I swear when I find you Ace!

[For anyone getting a good look in the journal, Marco's hair has been badly dyed red, oh yeah and he looks every bit as ticked off as he sounds. Later on however, he'll be sporting a fedora to cover up that Akagami-wannabe look, and looking for hair dye remover. Or bleach. Or as a last resort, black hair dye. Anything's better than red with him. He will also be putting up posters: "Ever want to be a pirate? Join the Whitebeards! Limited time offer" though more on that later. And even more than that, a certain usually very blue bird will have a slightly red and purple tinge to his feathers for a little while. So not pleased. Still, he'll be around to help out any New Feathers or someone needing directions to town. And if anything, he arguably looks more like a traditional phoenix. Not that he wants that.]

[Later on that night when he stops trying to beat Ace to a pulp there will be a second very short post.]

Does anyone have hair dye remover, bleach, or something in black? I couldn't find any in the shop. Thanks, eh.

[There is not enough deadpan in all the world to cover up Marco's reaction to that. Just a giant OTL and falling over, burying his head in arms leaning on his counter. And then running the kitchen sink and dunking his head under it. This just sort of... spreads the red however. When he gets back, he's got a pineapple dish towel wrapped around his head. Isn't he charming?]

H-handsome? You think Shanks is handsome? [And yet he, Marco the phoenix is not?]

[That is an interesting reaction. It seems to upset him though she can't imagine why. Of course she thinks that Shanks is handsome but she thinks quite a few men are handsome]

[Don't tell him that either, he'll get even more tsun and vaguely jealous. And put them on his kick list. At least Shanks can find ways to bounce on and off that list with accidental ease.]

No.... [Lying. LYING SO MUCH. Not even like good lying. This is obvious horrible lying. Luffy is the only worse liar than this.] Well, maybe a little. [Must find something reasonable and not thoroughly petty to trash talk Shanks on!] You know he likes to be purposely annoying to people, right? [While true, Marco is a troll too so this would be invalid if he just had a smidge more self-awareness. He just thinks he likes to joke around. Whereas Shanks isn't joking, he's just being annoying. On purpose. That fiend. Because that's not a form of joking around at all, nope.]

Besides, you like his red hair and not mine? At least mine has nuance and depth! [... Don't even ask how that makes sense, Marco's not sure either, he's just going to bullshit this.]

The red makes you look ridiculous. [As was already pointed out] And I can't say much for his personality but handsomeness is not always based on how a person acts.

[After all, handsome bastards are still handsome. Though in that case she's more inclined to snap their necks than admire them]

[Clicks his teeth shut for bit to buy himself time to not say something extra stupid. He's already got feathers full of red, a pineapple towel on his head and an urge to kick Shanks in the face with no explanation. Yup, now's a good time to cool it. There's a small flicker of emotions, but they're slammed behind a deadpan mask faster than you can say "Akagami."]

[... That might be masochism, but he asks purely as if it's just a matter of heading off to Grell's beauty salon and applying the correct traits. Either way, answering might not be the wisest idea. If that stops anything]

[Blinks and he's confused. Well she also called Shanks handsome, which was more distressing... but Marco's not handsome. Cocky, pretty as a phoenix, and he's got other qualities, but...]

[He hops up to grab a seat on the counter, perching there and swinging his legs a little. Old habits die hard and preferring heights is one he'll never get rid of, especially with such tall family members to land on.]

Besides somehow I think "murdered pineapple" implies other things, eh?

[Relaxes back, leaning against some of his cabinets and losing a lot of the joking around dramatics, letting slip a genuine softer grin show through.]

[You're very frustrating. She's annoyed at your mood swing. She can't tell if you do care or don't. But she will try to calm down as she realizes distantly it's a faintly silly thing to be annoyed over]

I don't prefer you with red. But even if it were irreversible I would get used to it.

[And tease you about shaving you bald for the amusement of it. Despite her assurances her voice is fairly chilled]

I'm grateful for that. [Truly a soft glance before looking away.] I do truly hate it though. I'm going to get it fixed.

What are your feelings on black? I've done that before, but it was after Thatch died. [Not that he exactly did it again after Pops died, but he's had other reasons for that.]

Somehow losing my head whole to a fruit-hungry D seems like one of the more unpleasant ways to die. If just for the tombstone. "He lost his head over fruit. One time too literally."

[Grins, ~~checking her out from the hair flip. Hey it's reflex.~~ And he hums something softly, eyes dancing in amusement again as he tries to settle on a good quip to return it with. In any case, she's definitely right. Though that's only one of a thousand reasons.] So long as we're a perfect pair with it. Just remind me to set a safety word later. Oh yes. It the great pineapple smoothie debate of the 80s. Dreadful times they were.
