All right, who let Marco have some art supplies? Well you're all about to be punished for it, because even if you're a recluse, he makes sure to post it on the journal too.]

And can anyone tell me about their world's sports? Is Hit & Dead Ball or Dodgeball universal, what about Red and Green Light? If we had a games tournament here, what games would everyone like to see in it? And what kind of rewards?

Well, I was thinking of more games than just dodgeball, but I haven't figured out which yet.

You mentioned Red Light, Green Light earlier...have you thought of Tag? Capture the Flag?

Hell, are there any wacky sports that are unique to your world?

Capture the Flag I was thinking of too.

[A shrug.] I'm not sure what other worlds have or not. Davy Back Fight is a compilation of a few things. There's the Donut Race and a few other things, it's pretty much whatever the captains agree on.

What goes on on a Davy Back Fight?

Instead of warring between pirate crews they bet their nakama in a series of games. After all in a full out fight between crews, there's usually going to be a lot of death and destruction.

The games can include a bunch of things. A donut race, boxing between the captains, rollerblading, Groggy Ring.

Man Groggy Ring is great. One player is the ball, and it's a little like football [Soccer] and you try to kick the player into the goals. [He laughs though.] Back home we haven't played it in decades. We'd always make Jozu the ball because he's made of diamond and about fifteen feet tall.

[Okay, he's laughing--not at Marco, just at his explanation.]

So you guys play games to capture crewmen? Daaamn that's clever! Pity that regular wars can't be fought like that!

Hah. Well some of the rules and cheating can be a bit drastic, eh.

The more the crowd the merrier. I hear some pirates even make money selling tickets to this sort of thing.

So far it seems like the only thing we could gamble is time, favors, and labor here.

But those all can be very useful if the conditions are worked out right.

Indeed. That's what makes it interesting.
