[Action / Accidental Video] In which baby phoenixes flail a lot

[Early Monday morning Marco is finally returned from his kidnapping. A lot tinier.]

[He wakes up by kicking his book open and there's a teeny tiny baby bluebird phoenix cocking an eye at the pages. Hello Luceti. Finally he decides it's just a blank journal so he hops back and goes to take in his surroundings, and checks the area around the fountain very carefully. Wet. Do not want. Well, he's bored now. Time to fly home.]

[That would work a lot better without this creepy added weight. What the hell! NO! HE CAN'T FLY?! So after several jumps, the hand-sized phoenix jumps about and tries to get air. Which much to his dismay, does nothing. With the added new weight of the fake Luceti wings, he can't fly! Eventually he just gives up and starts flailing.]

Pops! Pops! Pops! [There are a few more baby birdie chirps of this.] Uwah brothers! ANYONE! Where are you guys?!

[Walks around and looks distraught.] I must'a hurt my wings. But that makes no sense... because I'm a phoenix. [Sits back down and sulks for now. Oh, look a stranger! He starts to rush to hide behind the fountain, but well, he's not getting anywhere on his own... so he'll have to try something!]

Excuse me! Have you seen anyone really really tall around? Wait. No. What island is this? I don't remember docking? AH! Have you see Edward Newgate; my Pops around? It's really important, yoi! [At which point... he remembers he's a bird. And realizes nothing he said probably came out in human (it all did because lulz Luceti) so just have a deapan baby birdie stare.]

[And then in a hushed voice of her own] Would you like to see a secret?

Aye!

I won't fall in, eh. I am practicing all my flying jumps away from it.

[Of course it's not really a secret, but she enjoys being mysterious]

I'll show you how I make a flower.

[And hands blossom from the stone well, fingertips pressing together for a moment so that it looks like a but before it slowly opens. She's never tried it before, moving fingers like petals, but the overall effect is nice for a first try]

Uwaaah... [Tentatively pokes it with a wing and laughs.]

You did that?

[More laughs.]

I'll try too!

[But he's gonna try with flames because you know. Flames.]

Ahhh it's hard! You're much better! I guess you impressed me again!

[She's very tempted to trap him gently in her hands, but she won't. She doesn't want to scare him, at least not yet. But a few fingers will try to catch the fire]

However...I can't hold it for long. [but she will take him in her lap and cup him in her hands a moment] I can't teach you how to make it with fire, since I don't have it. But I'm sure you can figure it out on your own.

[Glances at his tail.] You think so?

[Swishes it back and forth and nods.] Okay. Here. Before you go. [Sparkles on her.]

I will find a way to do it before tonight, yoi.

M- Marco-sama?

[Well, she's really tall...]

This is Luceti, Marco-sama. Are you okay?

[He has yet to notice the giant mermaid, though you'd think with the pink hair and such he would.]

I see....

[Turns around and looks at the ground trying to understand what Luceti is.]

Ah! I cannot fly! Miss who knows my name, do you know where my Papa is?

Um, i- if you mean Whitebeard-sama, he's...

[And Shirahoshi starts crying softly, because even though she didn't know him, she knows he was important to Marco, and it's too sad to have to tell him that his Pops is dead.]

He's with M- Mother-sama, watching over us, so you don't have to worry, ok?

[Oh god. He made her cry. He made Robin upset too! AHHH Upsetting all the girls! Whyyyy? He switches back to human worriedly.]

D-don't cry!! [Starts to wibble himself. He's not sure what Shirahohshi means by that... but it's distressing.... and he's got a pretty good idea it means they're trapped and maybe beyond the barrier Robin mentioned, and it's all scary and he has to be brave to protect the ladies and his brother obviously!]

It will be okay. If Pops is watching over us, then he'll make us safe, no matter w-what, okay? Don't cry!

Um.

Um.

[Small voice.] Are you a mermaid? Did you meet Pops before?

[Shirahoshi bites her lip, nodding in response to Marco's question.]

I'm a mermaid, but I never got to meet your Pops. I had to stay in my tower until after he died...

Wh-What?

[Shakes his head.]

You're wrong. Pops can't die. He's too strong... I'm sorry about the tower though.

But he was really old and there was a war...

[But she doesn't really want to talk about it. Her father and brothers had watched the televised parts with grim faces, but she couldn't handle it very well at all, and had kept the visual Den Den Mushi in her room turned off. It was terrifying, watching the humans hurt each other so much.]

Don't you remember?

[Trembles and starts crying in full. How can she say that? It's impossible. Pops could never die. Pops promised to protect him until it was time. How could his phoenix fruit have messed up this big?]

You're wrong, you're wrong.... Pops will never die... So long as I have his mark, so long as I keep believing in him, he'll come. You'll see.

[Curls up under his wings in hybrid and hides.]

What about Jozu and Vista and Ray and my other brothers?

[Starts resigning himself to it. He's scared and depressed and hungry and wants to give up on trying to fly because what does it matter if he couldn't protect his Papa?]

[Today, Norma's just taking a walk back from the library, as is her usual routine. She's been far quieter ever since Marco left, though she's been purposefully finding things to do to keep her mind off things. As she walks along, humming to herself a soft, slow tune, she notes the movement from the corner of her eye and pauses. For a minute, she doesn't think much of it - just a bird washing itself in the fountain - but when it starts talking and flailing and--phoenix...oh god. She whirls around and immediately begins to panic, approaching and going through a list of mental preparations and stuff. What to do, what to do?!]

Uh...h-hey there, Tu--uh, little guy... You lost?

1522. I don't really know what happened to everybody. Just that Whitebeard-sama and Firefist Ace-sama died and then Red-Haired Shanks-sama ended the war. I didn't... I couldn't watch...
