4th Wall Break Time!
[Wow, this is a lot of people. Marco gives up fighting his way through the crowd and just switches to hovering. Don't mind the half phoenix, half man above you, okay? He's relatively tame...ish. After flitting about for a little though, he gets tired of trying to spot everyone through the crowd.]
[He gives a sharp piercing whistle and yells out loudly:]
MARCO!
[One might wonder why he's calling his own name, but he's trying to see who will call back Polo. For science! Or you know, so he knows who will be interesting to go fly down to.]
[And later on, he'll be playing hopscotch, and that night he'll be hanging out on the roof of CH3 drinking and saying a toast to his father's memorial. Anyone care to join him?]

Hm...
Are you sure? Mah... Do you know it every iteration of her is like this? Since you said it's happened before and all.

[Ikki growls and takes a long gulp of his drink.]
Athena... She's not that bad, but she has an annoying tendency of forgetting little details and acting without even asking for another's opinion. Or even without a warning.
You would think she would leave a note or something for her remaining Saints to know what she's planning to do when she lets herself be killed, but no, that takes effort and it's much better to leave us to guess it or have a man that seemed to be an enemy explain it to us. Or, well, them, I didn't think for a second that that woman would die that easily, otherwise I would have killed her long ago.
[A heartbeat.]
She has tried it before, you know? Sending us to have normal lives, have us stop being Saints and just... Live on. I don't know what idea she had but she didn't want us to fight in the war against Hades because we had already fought a lot in her opinion. She wanted us to be the normal teenagers we hadn't be allowed to be.
So she ordered the remaining Saints to kill us on sight should we approach the Sanctuary, with the option of just kicking our asses away of it when the war was about to start. She didn't tell us anything, not even a "Hey, guys I'm done with you, good job go take a rest." Nothing. My brothers... Didn't take the lack of information well... And reacted as one would expect them to react, by being stubborn and ready to invade the Sanctuary again to get to her and ask what the hell was she thinking. And obviously none of us listened to her orders of not getting us involved, which saved her ass and the world as a whole.
[Another swing at the bottle.]
I still find it funny, that she would want us to have normal lives when she's the cause why we can't have them. And we can't. My world isn't like this place where it's okay if you don't have studies or anything, you always manage. Back there, we only know how to live as Saints, we don't really even know how to deal with normal people anymore, no education, no jobs, no houses to crawl into, nothing. And she expected us to get a normal life just because she said so. Idiot.

[He settles down to listen, and reflects over it a bit. Honestly, it sounded like Ace. Ace was dumb enough to tell everyone to get out of Marineford and go live a normal life without him, completely forgetting that they were only there because they chose to be and they weren't going to be happy without him. Idiot.]
[Marco reaches over and ruffles Ikki's head again as reassuringly as possible.]
People with that much guilt are a pain in the ass to deal with, eh? Especially if you love or need them.
[Action]
Don't get me wrong, I hate her and I don't need her. None of us actually really like her that much, though I suppose Seiya had finally grown up past the stage of pulling hair. He's probably the only one that comes close to love her. I suppose Shun also has come to like her, but that kid likes basically anyone or at least is polite enough to stand them all... No, I wouldn't say any of us, with one possible exception, love her or care her as a person.
But she's Athena, she has proved that, and despite her background in our lives, Athena as a goddess is... At least she doesn't aim to kill humanity.
[Ikki is reticent to claim that she's really good, but that's due his personal beliefs.]
But as I said, protecting her is all we have. And even if we had a chance to have a normal live... What's the use of it if in a few days the world gets destroyed because her Majesty couldn't protect her own ass? So we ignore her claims and guilt of convenience, because honestly, if she was really guilty, if she really wanted us to have normal lives and was sorry, she could have done much more far earlier than she did. But she didn't. You can't rip someone away from a normal life, force them into another one and then try to discard them back to the normal life depending on if you want to have your conscience clean or not.

Maybe Athena will too eventually.

[He grimaces at the thought.]
While it's clear that she is Athena and has her Cosmos and all. I don't think the person acting most of the time is really Athena, she has never transmitted the same feeling as her Cosmos does when she talks or acts most of the time.
So rather than grow up, she should just stop playing pretend and become the real Athena completely.
