[A: Action has a ridiculously cheerful Marco wandering Luceti, actually walking, not flying. This is because he's walking his Pops' dog. A big white dog with a mustache on its face. The same crescent moon mustache that can be seen on Marco's tattoo. Well they say pets take after their owners...]

[Though I'm pretty sure that's not how it's meant.]

Fetch, Stefan!

[The dog barks and goes bounding after the white frisbee, only to stop as it hits the ground. What you expected him to catch it? Or actually fetch it? No. He gives Marco a quizzical stare instead, like what the hell is he supposed to do with it? Marco deadpans him right back.]

What, you were expecting this? [He holds up a white boomerang instead. And Stefan barks. With a small sigh Marco tosses it, fetches the fallen frisbee himself, and the dog goes racing after the boomerang. Including when it comes back to Marco, who just holds up a hand and catches it.] I don't know if you're just that lazy or he gave you bad habits, eh? [But Marco gives the dog a treat and an affectionate face rub anyway. Seems his Pops wasn't the only one giving him bad habits. In any case, feel free to spot him anywhere outside and stop and say hello or join him, both Marco and Stefan are quite friendly.]

[B. Voice: After fetching food for dinner (fish and mostly vegetarian things, sorry Robin, he's been cooking with Leanne in mind) and stopping to actually return books to the library instead of just stealing them indefinitely like the pirate he is, Marco lazily grabs a spot in the garden near the Straw Hat house.]

Hello Luceti.

I'm Captain Marco, of the Whitebeards, though there's really only me left of us here. I suppose that goes for a lot of the pirates left here, eh? In any case, if you're a lost new feather, give me a call, and I can come flying out there. And for everyone, I pose to you a question.

All worlds seem to have their own ways of preserving history, and some of burying it. In my own world, I think we go for the latter more often than not. Perhaps ironically, one of the strangest things about being a pirate is that we also uncover and preserve a lot of history. Accidentally, or because of treasure and legends. What one pirate might find to be treasure, the rest of the world might see as useless junk. My father was big on preserving history through stories. When you pass on legends, you keep them real in a way nothing solid can. So my question quite simply, is what do you or your worlds do to preserve history and stories? And what do you do if it's destroyed, eh?

[Bunny's first impulse had been Cyclone Origami, but he knew for a fact that Origami-senpai was not in town. The next impulse was that this was another uncertainty, a problem within his mind that he hadn't noticed before. Was he so far gone that he was hallucinating?

No. He needed to focus. The wings and the fire from a few weeks back-- the fire that he was grudgingly starting to regain control of-- were quite real.

This, too, was a problem that he could manage.

I'm certain you already know. That's quite the talent you have, 'Captain'...what was it again?

Chameleone, I've had a rough couple of years, so why don't we get this game over with and go straight to the fun part.

Where I kick your ass back to where you belong, matey. [It's still deadpan, but the sarcasm on the word is a bit more sarcastic. Whether Chameleone is from before Whitebeard's death or not, Marco is the last person in the world who wants to explain things to him.]

'Chameleone?' That's a new one. [Sarcasm: On. His words were biting, and his tone bordered on flippancy.]

Very well then, 'Marco.' I don't care to join you in any games today...wouldn't you say that they're tiring after everything? It's been rough all around, not just for you.

[An eyeroll. That's a nice try --]

[But the last part sounds... genuine. Not like Chameleone at all. Where's the greed, the mocking, the flippancy? Hm.]

Do tell.

[Still deadpan, of course, but he's serious. It's not because he remembers when they thought Chameleone was still a friend and ally, a nakama of the crew, but because if it's not Chameleone... well then he needs to find out somehow.]

[Barnaby narrowed his eyes at the book, briefly wondering why the sarcasm was less sharp. Perhaps there was a rational explanation to all of this besides his lingering paranoia about Maverick's influence.

That didn't mean he was going to show his hand.]

Very well then, as I do not trust you are authentic, you have no reason to trust me either.

What do you propose as an acceptable solution to test all this?

I'm still fairly new to this town, and the rules around here are more complicated than they look.

[Growls irritably, sounding like a swan hiss.]

[Because of course, if it is Chameleone, then he will die of allergies/sneezing, or just run the fuck away. And if not... then he'll find out who this is and why they share a voice.]

He's not a keen judge of character, but he'll do the trick. Unless, of course, you're allergic to dogs. Matey.

[Marco would find that Barnaby's ass was much harder to kick than it appeared.]

[And there's a small smirk. That's a line right out of his own book.]

Cafe. Half an hour. If you have your pirate marks, stash them somewhere safe or I'm taking them back.

Pirate...?

[This man was truly mad. Barnaby knew that the answer wouldn't be worth the effort of completing his thought. He snapped the book shut without bothering to finish the sentence and set off immediately. It was always wise to be the first one on the scene no matter the affair-- he planned to scope out the location and the people there in the moments he had, and get as accurate assessment of what he would have to deal with should a fight break out.

He doesn't run from Community House 1, but he arrives quickly. His jacket was left behind in his apartment, both because of the heat and for safety reasons. His fitted black tee remained, and his neon pink wings were flattened against his back but shamelessly exposed.

Where was Marco in all of this?]

[Marco also planned to arrive early. From the minute he said to be there, he dragged his big fluffy white dog along, mustache and all. So he grabbed a green tea and then waited outside with his father's dog, scoping out people in the area. Aha. Blond hair... pink wings? PFFT. Looks like Chameleon's colors were as rainbow-tastic as ever.]

Sic 'im, Stefan!

[To which... the dog merrily pads over and licks strangers' hands.] Ah, no, the other one. [MAN. THIS DOG. Well whatever. It's close enough to cause an allergy fit in Chameleone, if it is Chameleone, and that is all that counts.]

[Barnaby watched the entire display, completely unimpressed by man and (strangely mustachioed) dog.

He lifted an eyebrow at the man.]

That's an incredibly smart dog. [completely. deadpan.] He might even be able to hold a witty conversation with the Queen of England. You should test him someday.

Maybe I will. If I remember who or where that is. [THIS IS EERIE. WHO IS THIS DEADPAN DOPPLEGANGER?!]

[Stefan, meanwhile, barks happily and pads around Bunny and wags his tail, clearly expecting treats. Then looks back at Marco. Then at Bunny again. Yeah, the dog is an idiot and no help.]

Well, you aren't Chameleone. So who are you? [Arches an eyebrow and strokes his chin.] Although I promised to answer your questions first, eh.

[Barnaby watched the dog's behavior, noting that it was either just another dog (who happened to have a mustache) or that it could possibly be genuinely confused.]

Although, it doesn't seem like Stefan would care one way or another. Some loyalty.

[Marco waves a hand back and forth.] Chameleone is allergic to animals so he'd be sneezing or dying by this point. [Grabs a seat and whistles fro Stefan to come to him, which the dog does, after barking happily and wagging his tail like an idiot.]

[Marco tosses the dog a banana-shaped chew toy and the dog merrily gnaws away on it, curled up next to Marco. The pirate then kicks out the chair opposite him from the table and gestures for Barnaby to sit down.]

Chameleone is the only one I can think of capable of mimicking my voice. However... I have heard of people here from other worlds having the same face as friends of people back home. [A birdlike head-tilt.] So I'll grant, it's possible. [Eyes narrow.] If unlikely.

[Also don't mind Stefan sniffing your hand. Like Bunny noted, he's not that bright.]

[Barnaby idly scratched Stefan behind the ears. He's cool, but not heartless ~~even if he was totally not a fan of dogs. totally~~. He pulled out a seat as well, mulling over Marco's words. They sounded absurd, but...]

Very unlikely. [He coolly eyed Marco from over his glasses in a way that was definitely not like a cute bunny.] I also thought you were someone from home, but he wouldn't have made an entrance quite like that.

[Origami wouldn't have introduced himself publically at all, but stealthed around and randomly appear without invitation until people started to recognize him. It was simply photobombing taken to a different level.]

We have the same voice, and we both know someone who can copy another's face. It looks like we have some interesting odds here.
