Did you know there's a bird of prey called a secretary bird for how ridiculous it looks? It's actually extremely dangerous though. Its legs are so powerful that rather than divebombing enemy like a falcon or eagle or strange bird pinky -- [Wait, what was that last one? Yeah screw your normal birds, One Piece has weird things as you might know from the rapahn.] -- Instead a secretary bird uses its wings for balance and kicks snakes to death. For fun since snakes are shitty prey. I always thought that was a pretty cool fighting style.

Speaking of birds of prey, can anyone tell me more about birds in their world? Or mythological ones? Phoenixes, dragons, rocs, thunderbirds, anything like that, eh?

We're about 2 days out of Discedo now, and I've decided to completely map out the lake for Kiku's map program, eh. There are plenty of explorers in my world, technically the first pirate king started out that way even. But I'm wondering about everyone else's explorers. Is the world you come from all explored? Who first ventured to those far unknown reaches? Come on, I'm sure at least some of you have that adventurer's blood in your veins, eh?

[Just starts laughing. With anyone else he'd have felt inclined to start kicking, but the whole thing is just so much like Thatch.]

[Stills slightly, frozen for a bit, but then shakes his head with a grin.]

Ah well... yes. That apparent, eh?

I didn't always used to be like this, but then I mentioned Thatch already.

Apparent, and a compliment from me. Could you tell me more about Thatch, if you have the time?

A compliment, eh? That'd cinch it.

Ah he was... friendly. That sounds strange, but he was pretty much the friendliest man I've ever known, and I've known thousands of people. He always had a smile for anyone, and he liked to be the first commander on the scene to help people out or talk new guys through tough times. He was a swordsman and really strong, but kind of dashing too. [A small laugh and rubs the back of his neck.] He was so damn fussy about his hair. He liked to wear it really high up and poofy so I always made a game of trying to wreck it and mess it up just to get him to yell at me. I nicknamed him things like "Skyscraper Head" and beehive hair for it.

And he was good with fashion and people. He and Izou used to get annoyed because some of the crew are just happy with overalls and no shirt. Ah, but he was a great leader, eh? Not just because he was friendly, he just really knew when and where to take charge and how to get along with people. I used to be a lot more distant before him. Even with my crew and family. He got me to open a lot more and trust the rest of them. Learn to joke more, eh.

Maybe I will have the honor of meeting him here! Though I wish it could be under better circumstances...

[He trails off thoughtfully and flops back wherever he's sitting.]

You're very observant, I think I like that!

[Laughs quietly.]

Maybe. It'd take some doing for him to get here but Ace is, so anything's possible I suppose.
