[He starts trailing off, obviously seeing something.] Pops...? [His voice is quiet, barely audible. It's not possible, he knows it's not, he watched the man die. So it's just like Luffy's food and an illusion. Has to be. But then it gets stronger.] POPS!! [He starts running, sandals hitting the wood of the deck.] Pops... [This time he just sounds anguished. And then suddenly there's a splash. Uh where did Marco go?]

[STILL drowning. And vaguely trying to reach his Dad though now you know... half a head and holes through him, he knows he's still dead. :| He kind of doesn't notice the lack of oxygen immediately because even if he wasn't surrounded by water and missing gills, he wouldn't be able to breathe.]

[Oh glub. Glub dammit Marco- SPLASH! Eridan dives in after Marco. It doesn't take him long to grab Marco's jacket and pull him up. The young troll struggles to do so underwater without kicking Marco.]

Marco! [He's not sure if Marco can hear him underwater, but he finally breaks the surface, having to continue his quick strokes of his legs to keep Marco afloat.]

Eri--- Lightning? [Choking and gasping and looking back at where his Pops slipped away.]

Hang on. I'vve glubbin got you. Deep breaths okay? [Slowly, he makes his way to dry land. His fins are kind of frantically moving against his face. He's pulled or carried things UNDERWATER.... never before has he had to keep something afloat while swimming. Plus, the currents are rather strong, so it's a bit of a stressful struggle and rhythm he has to keep in check before he can make it to standing water.]

My Pops wasn't quite a giant, they're a hundred feet tall in my world, but aye, he was huge. Larger than life. And he was my lusus... but a kind one. All he ever wanted out of life was a family.

You may not believe this, but Ace and I are almost the runts of my family. Haruta is the smallest, but most of my brothers are two feet taller than me. Some are almost as tall as my Pops.

Hah... yeah... my brothers are sometimes three or four times my size. Even Namur and Vista are almost twice as big as me.

Wwhat.[ERIDAN is genuinely shocked. Like, look at his slack jaw Marco!!! In his mind, he's trying to stack Marco ontop of another Marco just to picture the size of Marco's brothers. Oh god. This just makes him feel teeny and insignificant in this big vast world.

Yeah, I guess that's not as common in other worlds but man... you should see Little Oars Jr. He's the size of a small mountain. [Laughs and then loses all that cheer and shivers. A) it's cold and wet and b) he just realized now they might indeed find Little Oars Jr's corpse. And that would suck.]
