First order of business, the trolls don't have Halloween in their world. Thus I'm inviting any of you who would find it fun to come trick or treating. That said, I suggest everyone try to find treats for them unless you want to experience the full weight of troll tricks. Eridan, Karkat, Tavros, Sabo, Vriska, Gamzee, and anyone else under 18 who wants to go trick or treating; you need a costume. If you want ideas, ask me or ask around for suggestions.

Ace? What's he like?

Ace? You haven't met him?

Ahh... he's a cowboy. [Laughs quietly at his own joke.] Just barely shorter than me, freckled, wears an orange cowboy hat and red beads, and almost never a shirt. He's fiery, rash, hot-blooded, jumps the gun. He's always passionate about everything, even little things, and lives life on the edge. And he's as protective of his brothers and nakama as I am. Sweden once said we were a lot alike, which actually really made me happy.

I'm not sure I see it, I'm not really quite that hot-tempered, even if I wanted to be, but I think Ace has grown up a lot in the last five years.

He's also got great manners and is extra polite with girls, you should really meet him sometime, eh?

No, I've never met him before. But he sounds really nice.

[She can understand about being passionate about something, even in her line of work.]

I usually run between here and Discedo so there's a chance I can run into him, right?

Yeah, he's my best friend, and very friendly. You'll probably see him around. He's not as good about using his comm as the rest of us, so he usually gets his ass shocked now and then.

Eh? They shock you?!

If you don't use them for 2 weeks even for commenting to people, yeah.

That's kind of mean.

I think they actually get powered through use, so the shock is because they're dying. Maybe.

In any case, it's not that hard to make status updates and tell people you're alive and not sent back home.

Very. [Laughs.] He tried to kill my old man over a hundred times. We lost count.

It's something very many pirates have tried, just none quite like Ace.

...I don't think I can handle being a pirate. I'm not much of a fighter.

There's more to piracy than fighting, but I don't think you have the desire for it. I'm sure Michelangelo would be very upset with me.

But what exactly do pirates do? And why would Mikey be upset? He trusts you doesn't he?

Yeah... but I think most people here know me enough to know what not to trust me with as well.

Is it because of getting hurt? I'm not afraid...not anymore...

[She kind of looks away and hugs her knees. Not angry.]

[Arches an eyebrow, frankly outright worried.]

No. People get hurt whatever their occupation, that's life.

Being a pirate is like a calling. It's not for a lot of people. It's a license to be hated by everyone. Not something most people can handle.

I know...I've gotten hurt so many times while trying to do a routine that I had to be forced to stay in bed until I felt better.

...but not everyone hates pirates if they are people who want to be one. I don't hate them.

[She meant it as a compliment.]

In piracy you lay everything on the line. Not just your life and health, your dreams, your ambitions, your friends' and family's lives and dreams as well. It's all or nothing sometimes, and often cruel like that. It's life, it doesn't matter how strong you are, everyone falls sometime and sometimes you can't get back up.
