Yo. I'm back. Longest month of my life, including that time I dyed my hair black.
Did anyone remember to water and feed Ace while I was gone? Take him for walks and make sure he got sun and all that?
[There's a pause and the fluttering of wings along with a mutter.] Damn this new book system is strange... [But he speaks back up again trying to sound more chipper.]
So what did I miss? Did the entire landscape change? Any new books about pirates at the library, eh?
[For those who know him well, Marco actually sounds pretty exhausted for a change, and lacking some of his usual ridiculousness.]

I'm going to flip my laptop when he makes that face in the anime now, CC, jsyk.Thankfully, Norma was not looking, too busy racking her brains, plucking out bits of info from her studies long ago about healing and things that could heal. Unfortunately, most of her studies for years on end revolved around the Everlight, so...much of everything else was pushed out.Ah well, she can always be a cheater and ask Ace about it.]
I guess so. That, or if I suddenly keel over and lose my eres, you'll be there to help me out, right, MarMar? ♥ ...Not like I'm looking for that alternative, but you get the idea.

[Hrm. Norma's unsure how to feel about that. Sure, as a magic user she has to have her friends shield her while she casts, but this seems different. If Marco got hurt, he could heal himself, but still. The thought of using a human shield like that makes her uneasy. The comment about her eres goes unheard, as she closes her eyes, reflects, and thinks a bit. Just what is your power, Marmar?]
Can you get hurt? I mean, if you got attacked, does it hurt? You said you can heal yourself, and only yourself, so I'm starting to piece together some things, but... [She pouts. Yes, Marco, Norma is worried about you.] I-I mean--not much of a skill if it still hurts like nothing else, right?

The pain I feel... probably isn't anything like anyone else would for things. But I'm not really that great of a shield. I've got a lot of brothers to look after and if I just protected one, they wouldn't be able to fight back either.
Ah, I'll explain now. I'm a phoenix. My flames can't burn like Ace's, they just regenerate me. I can also fly though, and there's a few other side effects. [Like the desire to re-enact scenes from Make Way For Ducklings.]
