Hello New Feathers! My name is Marco. I hope you're all settling in all right! If you're still having problems getting lost in the middle of nowhere, give me a call and I'll be right over to guide you back to town.

For everyone else, I have a friend about my size who's in some desperate need of costumes. I'll take anything you've got. Nurse's uniforms, maid uniforms, marines, chicken costumes, bunny ears, literally anything.

Bonus points if it looks sexy on a guy.

Of course I am. [Tousles Ace's hair.] I might be a bit of a pain, but we are nakama.

[He crinkles his face, but looks up at him a bit confused.] But... I've been an ass. You're not mad or anything at me?

Sometimes it's not a matter how "well," just different means, eh. Imagine everything's a maze, but instead of one exit, there's fifty. Maybe a different route will take you someplace better.

[Laughs softly and ruffles more.] Are you saying I haven't been an ass right back?

... so you're saying I should've done something different?

[Pouts and swats the hand away.] Stop it! Well, you're being an ass now!

[More grumbly pouts.] I kept denying you were nakama, though. And yelled at you and everything.

I'm saying, there might be another way that produces the results you want, that you haven't looked at yet. Not that your way is bad, just that you aren't getting what you want with it, right?

[Snickers and ruffles one last time.] Ace I've got news for you. You've done all that to me before, so this hardly that new to me. [Although he was hurt that Ace kept disowning him, it's not like he thinks adult!Ace would. Ten year old Ace just doesn't know all the things Marco's done to fight for the right to be by Ace's side, so it's understandable, if frustrating.]

[Well, he sure as hell didn't want to fight with Sabo like that.] What else am I supposed to do, though?

[He gives him an annoyed glare one last time before staring at the ground.] ...'m sorry. You're... [A lot of things.] You're good nakama.

[Marco's eyes widen in pure shock.]

[And he can't help himself, he picks Ace up into a giant crushing hug and hugs hard. Luckily it's not really Garp-hug tight, but he's still going to get punched silly for this he's sure. He doesn't mind enough to worry about it though.]

I am a lousy nakama sometimes Ace. [He let Ace go fight an enemy and couldn't even give him support for it. He teases him constantly even when he knows it's pretty outmatched. And for what? So he can say he trusts Ace to make his own decisions, mistakes or not? Was it worth it? Yeah, so not letting go of that hug yet.] But that makes me really glad to hear. [OBVIOUSLY.]

And give it a little space for now, eh? [Gently sets Ace back down with a hair ruffle. Marco told himself he'd stop that, but it's okay, Marco knows he's a liar.]

Sometimes when you're too close to something it's impossible to get a big picture. Right now you're worried he doesn't understand what you're trying to say, right? Maybe he feels the same way.

There's nothing wrong with just enjoying moments whenever you can. Life can seem like a war; one big struggle. But it doesn't have to always be that way. So for now, try doing something else, focusing your attention elsewhere, and come back to it. If the problem is really as big as you think, it'll still be there, but you might be stronger when you come back to it so that it'll be simpler.

[The hug catches him completely off-guard, and it takes a bit before he even reacts. Which is surprisingly not with a punch, more like flailing. After all, the hug feels... nice, kinda.] O-Oi, what the hell are you doing!? Leggo!

[And at that, he just lightly punches the top of his head.] You're not a lousy nakama, so shut up.

[When he's set back down, he just kinda looks at him.] I... think I get it...

[Squishes another hug, not giving a damn about the punch. Cutie ;;]

It's a hug. Deal with it.

And I'm more terrible than you know, but come on, battledome, eh. And you can figure out how to talk to Sabo there.

[dkvbsjgbskjbgr another one what the fuck. WHY ARE THERE ALL THESE HUGS.]

No, leggo of me! ["Hugs" are a foreign concept. He doesn't get them AND THIS IS REALLY AWKWARD, MAN. You get another punch. >:|

[He laughs.]

Yes. Calm down, eh. Your baby punches can't do much to me anyway. [Go ahead, punch him more Ace.]

Wha-- I'M NOT A BABY! [KICKS YOUR SHIN, YOU JERK.]

[Sticks his tongue out, not even using the blue flames to recover (not that it'd work much in Luceti.)]

[Oh. Oh that does it. He is going to punch you.

[OKAY THAT makes him double over in pain.]

No. Bad Ace. Surely even Garp told you not to do that.

Ow. Ow. Now I can never have kids. [He's just going to die now.]

[He crosses his arms, smirking.] Gramps only tried to tell me how to be a marine. And pirates don't play fair, anyway, so take that.

True enough they don't, but that's still a very low blow. And whatever depths you sink to, someone else will go lower.

[Not getting up yet. Seriously though where is his healing? Stupid barrier.]

Just be glad I didn't kick 'em or something.

[He'll just grab some food and eat until you get up.]

[Shudders. He will stop being on the floor when he stops being in agony. Hopefully soon.]

Great. I appreciate that. I'm sure Garp would be so proud.

[He just keeps munching.] Gramps wouldn't be proud of me for much of anything.

[Finally gets up.]

You're wrong. I practically hate the man, and I have no doubt if he was here I'd have to keep dodging his punches, sucking all the fun out of life -- but he really loves you Ace. He wouldn't try to get you to be a marine if you didn't. And I know he's got to be proud of you for protecting your family no matter what, eh.

[Rubs his jaw.] And seriously. He'd be dying of laughter and proud of you for punching me. [-_-']

How the hell does trying to force me to a marine show he loves me? [He can't deny Garp does care, though. Why else would he take in a kid like him?] Can't imagine him being happy for something like protecting family. I just do it since he's not around to.

... heheh, he'd laugh, I'll bet.

Because in his completely fucking crazy brain -- [Sorry Ace, he tries not to insult your family, Garp included, but he was just punched in the nuts in what can only be described as rousing memories of Garp's punches.] -- that would save your life and set you on the best path towards happiness. I don't agree with him, obviously, or we wouldn't be nakama, but even I can see why he'd think that.

And let's just say you and Luffy get up to a lot bigger trouble, and since he definitely can't be around, I think he appreciates that you do your own thing in spite of him. In you know... a weird kind of backwards D way. Don't punch me in the nuts again for all that or I'll break my rule and kick you.

And yeah... he'd laugh a lot. I'm getting a headache just picturing it.
