Yo. I'm back. Longest month of my life, including that time I dyed my hair black.

Did anyone remember to water and feed Ace while I was gone? Take him for walks and make sure he got sun and all that?

[There's a pause and the fluttering of wings along with a mutter.] Damn this new book system is strange... [But he speaks back up again trying to sound more chipper.]

So what did I miss? Did the entire landscape change? Any new books about pirates at the library, eh?

[For those who know him well, Marco actually sounds pretty exhausted for a change, and lacking some of his usual ridiculousness.]

[Norma groans in disappointment at first, ready to spit out a quick "party pooper" at her journal as a scowl takes shape on her face. But, wait a sec, what's this? April what-now? Eh, whatever, that's good enough! Not what she had been hoping for, but it's a decent enough stepping stone in teasing the hell out of Ace later down the line.]

Oooh...sounds good! I'll be sure to ask him all about that when I see him next! [Tee hee. ♥] As for that other bit...I guess I could use it to poke fun of him. But Hothead's already got a nickname, so I can't use it too much. It might stick. [And she does not steal nicknames from others. B| That is not the way she does business.]

He needs a lot of looking after, but don't mention it. [...] You said your name was, uh...Marco, right? [Not much to work with there...Norma's gonna have to think hard for a good nickname.] What about you, huh? Are you a superman or something, too?

MarMar? [Arches an eyebrow.] Surely you can do better than that?

[...Is he questioning her nicknaming skills? >B| This atrocity is enough of a reason for Norma to forget about if MarMar has any funny powers like Ace does. NO ONE QUESTIONS NORMA'S NICKNAMING PROWESS.]

Hey! It's not like you're giving me much to work with here! Impress me, and maybe I'll change it. For now, though, what you hear is what you get!

[Laughs.] You'll just have to wait until you see me in action then.

Yeah, no thanks. Unless I catch you in the Battley-Thing, that is. I'd rather not be sent back to fight for the Malno-nos any time soon! [Once is more than enough for Norma. Thank goodness she had so many strong and capable magic users to fight with her that one time.]

I'm fragile, jeez, unlike you and Hothead...and the other muscle-bound knuckleheads that lurk around this place. There's gotta be a ton of you, I'll bet.

I wasn't offering to spar. There are other things one can do than fight.

[NO that wasn't hitting on her either, jeez.]

[And neither was she. Norma's not...exactly the hand-to-hand combat type, like more magic users/healers. She even makes a face at the very thought of sparring with anyone, let alone some burly pirate and friend of Ace's.]

Pass on the sparring thing, MarMar, I'm not the type. That was Senny, Red, and C's jobs. I'll get clobbered if I'm on my own in a fight against a big bad.

Like I said, it's off the table. I don't spar often. Probably I'd only be willing to against Ace. And even then, I'd hold back.

My powers aren't such that they're only used in fighting. Just like Freckles and his fireworks, eh?

[Norma laughs, and sinks down to rest her head on her folded arms.] I try and make it so I don't have to ever fight my friends, y'know? Kinda defeats the whole "healer" thing.

[Thank goodness for Friend-or-Foe marking, too. Otherwise, her spells could and would spell doom for her party-mates. Though that...honestly begs the question of how Grune manages to to murder anyone with her spells...huh.]

Y'know, I don't think I've ever seen Hothead use his powers in a fight. Not that'd I'd want to be anywhere near that, but yeah. He's been one heck of a great portable fireplace.

...A doctor? [SNERK. Okay, that's too much. Norma actually has to pull back and laugh at the very idea. Man, she just...cannot envision it. Cannot at all. A healer was silly enough.] C'mon, gimme another hint or something! You're not making this easy at all!

Oi oi, I would make a great doctor.

All right, probably not, eh? I'm sure Law's insulted that I even think I could.

You'll come to it. Ahh a hint let's see... a healer could never work on me, but I'll never need one either.

[Wow, this is hard. It's like one of those annoying puzzle games, or a riddle. Norma's a smart girl, a scholar even, but she's awful at things like these. Making sense of the impractical. Ugh, she does not have the patience for it.]

Can't you just tell me? Jeez... Healers don't work on it, but it never needs one...so...mmmrr... [LONG PAUSE IS LOOOONG.]
