Yo. I'm back. Longest month of my life, including that time I dyed my hair black.

Did anyone remember to water and feed Ace while I was gone? Take him for walks and make sure he got sun and all that?

[There's a pause and the fluttering of wings along with a mutter.] Damn this new book system is strange... [But he speaks back up again trying to sound more chipper.]

So what did I miss? Did the entire landscape change? Any new books about pirates at the library, eh?

[For those who know him well, Marco actually sounds pretty exhausted for a change, and lacking some of his usual ridiculousness.]

Well, it's interesting as long as you're not involved personally, I guess..

But I'm not so sure if it's such a good idea to interrogate your friends about it, I'm sure they don't want to talk about their embarassing experiences if they had them.

I'm sure Sparky won't mind a little push for information.

He's my best friend here, and we have the same father.

I think I might have talked to a guy like that before, although not in person.. but it still seems a little familiar.

[ that wording.. huh. ] So you're brothers? Or is it more a metaphorical kind of thing?

Aye. He has a little brother he's closest with here -- they grew up together and I only met Ace four years ago -- but we're still brothers.

It's not always about blood, after all, so yeah, you guys might as well be like brothers. [ She thought up until recently that her older brother was only her half-brother too, after all. ]

It's good you guys at least got to be here together then.

It's not about blood at all. [Their father is their pirate captain >> And Luffy and Ace aren't biologically brothers either. So it's 100% about adoption. But good luck getting Marco to ever think blood is different.]

Aye. I missed the hell out of him.

Did you arrive here before he did?

Kind of. He's been sent back home a lot. But even back home, were separated for a long time.

Yeah, I understand that feeling.. My older brother is in this place too, but he only recently returned after being home for about half a year. And I haven't seen him back home in even longer than that. It really sucks to be seperated from them.

Aye. I've got another 1600 brothers at home to look after, but I'd rather see them show up here than try to rush back home.

This place is actually the first I've been away from most of them in decades.

... 1600 of them? Big family you've got there.

[ even if it's not just by blood like they just discussed but it's more a semi-deadpan joke. ]

Aye. [Laughs.] My Pops' dream was to have a big family. I'd say he succeeded, eh?

He must've been busy with a family that big.

He was. He was a pirate emperor so he had a lot of islands to protect.

Ah... no. He died. Did you ever talk to Blackbeard while he was here?

... I don't think I've talked to him, no.

[ but still, death of family is something Ange can understand very, very well. ]

He's my Pops' murderer. He tricks people into thinking he's just a fat slob, unambitious, kind of lazy, but he's not. Not at all.
