[Action / Accidental Video] In which baby phoenixes flail a lot

[Early Monday morning Marco is finally returned from his kidnapping. A lot tinier.]

[He wakes up by kicking his book open and there's a teeny tiny baby bluebird phoenix cocking an eye at the pages. Hello Luceti. Finally he decides it's just a blank journal so he hops back and goes to take in his surroundings, and checks the area around the fountain very carefully. Wet. Do not want. Well, he's bored now. Time to fly home.]

[That would work a lot better without this creepy added weight. What the hell! NO! HE CAN'T FLY?! So after several jumps, the hand-sized phoenix jumps about and tries to get air. Which much to his dismay, does nothing. With the added new weight of the fake Luceti wings, he can't fly! Eventually he just gives up and starts flailing.]

Pops! Pops! Pops! [There are a few more baby birdie chirps of this.] Uwah brothers! ANYONE! Where are you guys?!

[Walks around and looks distraught.] I must'a hurt my wings. But that makes no sense... because I'm a phoenix. [Sits back down and sulks for now. Oh, look a stranger! He starts to rush to hide behind the fountain, but well, he's not getting anywhere on his own... so he'll have to try something!]

Excuse me! Have you seen anyone really really tall around? Wait. No. What island is this? I don't remember docking? AH! Have you see Edward Newgate; my Pops around? It's really important, yoi! [At which point... he remembers he's a bird. And realizes nothing he said probably came out in human (it all did because lulz Luceti) so just have a deapan baby birdie stare.]

What kind of things do you cook, yoi? Where did you learn to cook? Have you been cooking long?

[... Yeah no. Scooping him up. B| Never mind Sanji can't be certain Pumpkin isn't lurking around the restaurant, too. While his cat wouldn't mean any harm, she sure as hell would pounce on a new playmate.]

I've been cooking ever since I can remember. [To his credit, he takes the questions in stride] Mostly on floating restaurants - y'know, the kind you find out at sea. And I'll make you whatever you wanna eat.

[That would be for the best. Marco kicks. He will also cheerfully perch on Sanji's shoulders like a parrot.]

WOW really?! That's amazing! Like a storybook adventure! [Never mind that Marco's every day life is a storybook adventure...] I will eat anything yoi, but not meat. [He lies. He's relatively picky, but it's unlikely Sanji will decide on things he can't/won't eat.]

What's the farthest you've ever traveled? Do you meet a lot of people? Do you have a cool crew? Are they strong? Are they big and gi-gant-ic? [Had to split the big word up.]

[Oh hell, now he's babbling right into his ear. Sanji fights back a twitch with relative success, though he picks up his step. The faster they hit the restaurant and he starts cooking to distract himself, the better. It's like a child in bird form-- oh wait.]

The farthest? We've already hit the New World, if that counts - sailed all the way from East Blue. And yeah, meeting people kinda comes with the shitty job. [He pushes open the door, sucking in a thankful breath of cooler air.]

And of course I have a cool crew! [A sudden, huge grin] Robin-chan and Nami-san are the coolest people I know~! [So derailed by his moment of worship, he forgets to answer the rest of the questions]

That's really far! What kind of ship do you have? Are the people you meet fun? Are they ridiculous like my brothers?

[Bah, more questions. Sanji lightly shakes himself from his daydream and continues on in the usual nonchalant manner.] His name's Thousand Sunny, and was built by one of the best shipwrights in the world - a cyborg named Franky. [That alone should answer the "are they ridiculous like my brothers" question, but Sanji chooses to elaborate further]

And yeah, some of the are pretty shitty weird. My captain's a rubber man who only likes to eat meat. [Pause] And we've got a skeleton for a musician, a reindeer for a doctor...

[Oh, okay, you've won him over. His Daddy is still the bestest, but holy cow that's a cool crew.]

[Chibi quiet voice of awe.] A reindeer? [Sparkle sparkle.] And a skeleton. [Small giggle.] How does a skeleton play music? Are his ribs a xylophone? [That's just silly.]

[Ha! Unbidden, the xylophone jab earns a snort of amusement.] Brook's a special skeleton, let's just leave it at that. But he's also the best damn musician I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. [There's no small amount of pride in his voice]

I hope I can meet him too someday, yoi!

Does he make his own songs too?

Oh, yeah! [With some added pep and animated movements] He's a famous rock star now! The Soul King!

[... Sanji may or may not have bought all of Brook's singles while stuck on his own island during their separation.]

[Awww Sanji, best nakama.]

Ehhhhh really? NEAT! What's he sing about? Pirate-y things?

Well yeah, he is a pirate, after all. [Sliding into the kitchen now]

I wanna know more pirate songs! People just keep singing Bink's Sake a lot, eh. There should be more songs than that! It's not even a pirate song!

[Sanji silently agrees that as far as pirate songs go... he might love Bink's Sake, but it's pretty child-friendly compared to the songs he heard growing up]

Oh, there are plenty of raunchy pirate songs out there.

[Tell him and corrupt him. Then he will sing one to Robin and get Sanji in trouble. Perfect.]

After some internal debate, in which Sanji moves around the kitchen to make Marco a sandwich, he begins to sing in a clear, amused tenor]

I don't think I've got a favorite, but an ex-pirate who sailed with the Baratie for a few years loved singing that song. I just picked it up.

[That movie has one of the best soundtracks. Also forever proof that Tim Curry makes an awesome pirate. And tranny. Ergo Ivankov is win? Idk. Moving...]

All the way back in East Blue. [He pauses in-step, unsure how to handle that second question] And hell if I know.

[Speaking quickly before Marco launches into another round of 20 questions, Sanji waves in the direction of the fridge] Oi, what kind of sandwich do you want?

Fish! And French fries!

Or peanut butter.

I'm not picky as long as it's good.

[That all sounds so embarrassingly simple, and so Sanji pauses again. Holy shit, when's the last time he made a peanut butter sandwich?]

... Right. [He speaks slowly, more to himself than to Marco] I can do that.
